Frequently Asked Questions

  • How is SILA Skills different from other training organizations?
SILA Skills is different in many different ways: All of our workshops and seminars are live (no prerecorded videos!) Our facilitators are practicing what they teach every day. All of our work is founded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
  • Is this program for individuals with a clinical diagnosis?
While we empathize with individuals seeking clinical support, we do not offer those services.
  • How is a workshop different from a seminar?
A workshop is an in-depth look at how DBT-informed skills can transform how one approaches a high-stress work or home environment. Our workshops have: Personalized training based on participant's registration responses. Multiple ways to access - 1 day, 2 day, 4-part, 6-part and more. Practice and review built-in. Opportunities to actively participate in every class. Free ongoing review and practice through monthly Skills In Action sessions. A seminar is an introduction to workshop training via a specific work or home related pain point that DBT-informed skills can help. Seminars Are short (1-2 hours in length) Have little participation involved. Are a one-of activity. There are no further connections.
  • How long are the workshops and seminars?
As you can see from the previous question, there are different time commitments to workshops and seminars. Generally, workshops are from a full day event to several days, depending on the workshop outcomes. Seminars are generally 1-2 hours, depending on the seminar outcomes. To see the exact timing of the events, go to our registration page.
  • How is SILA Skills funded?

"This was a very valuable Professional Development opportunity and the timing during COVID made it even more so. I began to put into practice what I learned from the very first session and kept on adding as the sessions continued. The benefits were for my students but also for myself. Thank you."
